Update from the picket line today
CUPE 233 members are made of grit.
Strong start to phase 3 and week 2 of strike action. The Board of Governors (BoG) decided to move to an all-virtual meeting after months of meeting at Jorgensen Hall, the President of the university cowardly entered the building through the back loading dock of the building to avoid us, and the university even heard about our special guest for Thursday and decided to give Jagmeet’s office a call to arrange a meeting with the President of the university. Of course, Jagmeet replied that he does not cross a picket line, showing strong support for CUPE 233 members. Our efforts are definitely having an impact.
We were also visited by CUPE 4400 again today to hand-deliver a generous donation of $5,000 towards the local’s strike fund.
